There are three levels to WETT Inspection which are explained below. You will always receive a LEVEL ONE inspection then if some concerns are raised during this inspection it will be necessary to expand the inspection into LEVEL TWO AND LEVEL THREE (which includes additional charges)
***Note: ALL Complete Chimney Sweep (CCS) inspections include pictures and digital copies of inspection forms. Since many insurance companies are wanting a thorough inspection CCS requires a sweep to be booked in conjunction with the WETT Inspection which will ensure we have looked over the entire system, discovered any issues that may have arisen and would have been hidden had we not swept as well.
Wherever possible roof and attic access are performed including photos. If there is attic access it is best to have this area accessible before arrival.
Complete Chimney Sweep is WETT Certified for ALL LEVELS
LEVEL ONE (SITE BASIC) INSPECTION "Readily Accessible"
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
The inspection of "readily-accessible" components of:
- a solid-fuel-burning appliance, or
- a site-built fireplace, and
- the venting system for:
- a) a proper use of required components, and
- b) clearance to combustibles, and
- c) readily-visible system obstructions or deposits
WHY AND WHEN:
To verify code compliance of the readily-accessible components
- a) at the homeowner's request, or
- b) with the homeowner's permission, when requested by a third party (e.g. Insurance company, home buyer, etc)
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- A basic, visual inspection by a WETT certified SITE inspector; performed without a ladder or specialized tools.
- A (multiply page) report using WETT's recommended inspection checklist(s), or similar checklist(s), for the type of system being inspected
COMPLETE CHIMNEY SWEEP ADDITIONS:

**** NOTE: Complete Chimney Sweep provides pictures along with the multi-page inspection report.
LEVEL TWO INSPECTION "Accessible"
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
- A Level One inspection AND
- An inspection of all "accessible" components of the system for clearance to combustibles and for obstructions or deposits; and
- an evaluation of the construction, sizing, condition and suitability of "accessible" components of the system.
WHY AND WHEN:
- When a Level One inspection is deemed insufficient because of a detected or suspended hazard, or
- when verification of the suitability and integrity of the system components is required, or
- after an operating malfunction or external event, likely to have caused damage to the system, or
- when an appliance is replaced, or
- when a major system component is replaced or requires significant repair
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Inspection of accessible system components, which may include possible disassembly of accessible system components, by a WETT certified Comprehensive Inspector or by a WETT certified technician, as a part of an installation or major system component repair process.
- A report using WETT's recommended checklist(s), or similar checklist(s).
- A written evaluation of the suitability, integrity of the system.
- (COMPLETE CHIMNEY SWEEP NOTE: For this inspection to be thorough it will require the cleaning of the entire system.)
COMPLETE CHIMNEY SWEEP ADDITIONS:
- Pictures
- Multi-page Inspection Report
- Complete System sweep and clean.
- Video Footage of entire system (if deemed necessary at an additional charge)
**** NOTE: Complete Chimney Sweep provides pictures and a multi-page inspection report. If deemed necessary we will also provide video camera inspection footage of inside chimney and components. This method would be pursued in order to reduce the need for an invasive inspection found in LEVEL THREE.
LEVEL THREE INSPECTION " Concealed Accessibility"
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
- A Level One and Level Two inspection AND
- An inspection of system components in areas of "concealed accessibility" for clearance to combustibles; and
- an evaluation of the construction, sizing, condition and suitability of components of the system in areas of "concealed accessibility"; and
- an examination of surrounding construction for evidence of damage.
WHY AND WHEN:
- When a Level Two inspection is deemed insufficient because of a detected or suspended hazard that cannot be fully verified without access to concealed areas, or
- after an incident that may have caused damage to any concealed parts of the system or building construction, related to the system.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- The inspection, by INVASIVE means, of concealed areas of the system by a WETT certified SITE Comprehensive Inspector, including the removal of non-structural building components and/or disassembly of parts of the system.
- The possible (Complete Chimney Sweep: PROBABLE) use of specialized tools or equipment.
- A comprehensive written report of the findings and possible (Complete Chimney Sweep: PROBABLE) inclusion of inspection checklists.
- COMPETE CHIMNEY SWEEP NOTE: This is an invasive inspection and will likely leave unsightly results but will ensure that safety or lack thereof of the system can be explained and repaired/resolved. Cost will vary depending on each situation and amount of work. Each level is increasingly more expensive.
